I love the weekend....

After my morning coffee...

On the terrace (with left over birthday bunting), watching my privacy screen plantings grow...

I will check on the progress of my grape hyacinths....

Maybe go and buy some fresh flowers from my flower man....or maybe I will plant my own sweet peas

or maybe I will download some photos of my son's second birthday, which had a farmyard theme...including real animals!

Or maybe I will start to design the garden beds for my very own vege patch (and maybe some chooks??) the yard is certainly big enough...

Or get the hired toys back to the toy library....my son will miss the school bus....

Or maybe I should hem the simple check tablecloths used for the party....with terracotta pots and wildflowers picked from the bush to keep the country feel going...

Or maybe I will just play with Mr 2

Oh the choices....!

I'm back!

It has been a while! I lost access to the blog for some reason and it took a long time to resolve...but I have some more photo's of progress at our place.

My first Daffodils from the garden.

Margaret Hart painting I have had for a while.

Two autumn leaves that David has had for some time.

Our small Michael White, which I hung.

Two little birds I have sitting on my bookshelf

A botanical painting of a Banksia.

I made the bed head last night for the spare bed....

Progress is slow, but we are getting there slowly. I look forward to sharing more pictures over the coming weeks.

Dreaming of Owen…

I love watercolour paintings. They are all about light. Owen Thompson’s watercolours are extraordinary. I look forward to the day when I can purchase one. I dream of a whole wall filled with watercolours of similar tones in neutral frames – maybe of the ocean. One day……

You can read about Owen Thompson here. You can also purchase the above paintings at this site. Enjoy! Jen

Easter Flowers

I have a green grocer close by that sells flowers at a very reasonable $4 a bunch or 3 bunches for $12. He keeps his prices low by buying the flowers in season at the markets. He knows me now as I call in at least once a week, and he shows me the freshest flowers and sends me out the back when they are arranging the fresh bunches, so I can get the freshest stock.
One day soon I am going to have my mum come over and baby sit so I can go to the flowers markets in the morning - it has been so long since I have done this - it is sooo much fun.

Happy Easter!

Moving in

I have been looking forward to unpacking my 'treasures' for over 12 months now, so excuse me if I seem a little excited! I have taken a few photos to share - but be assured we are still in total chaos. I had the picture hanger come yesterday and hang the first of the artworks....bliss!

This little lady I picked up for a couple of dollars at a local thrift store...

This painting by John Lloyd sits over the fireplace. The pink camellia is the first flower I have picked from our new garden.

These little vases were another local thrift store find all of them for under $5.

Another John Lloyd hung in the lounge. I can picture a little round nickel side table we have sitting under this with a glass vase of foliage....I just need to locate the table!

This Michael White oil painting takes pride of place in our entrance foyer. The builder put an alcove in to create more of a feature. This painting has been in storage for over 12 months and never hung, so I am enjoying it immensely.

Our new outdoor furniture which I picked up for a bargain. The little potted plants on the table are hot pink Impatiens from Bunnings.

 My romantic little door stop.

Some oriental pots in my kitchen. The one on the right I bought new recently and then I found the one on the left for $8 in a vintage store in the Southern Highlands.

Some beautiful Dahlias which I bought from my local 'flower man'. The 'Pooh Bear' book is full of sweet and whimsical 'Pooh' quotations that are a joy to read. For example "It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"". I couldn't agree more!
The 'cooking corner'of my kitchen.

We are slowly getting there, and I will share more pictures with you as we progress.
